Report: The Occupation Army Proposes Applying the "Lebanese Model" for the Use of Force in Gaza
SadaNews - The correspondent for the Israeli Army Radio stated that the high command of the army has presented, with the onset of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, a series of alternatives to the political leadership regarding the policy of using force in Gaza similar to the model applied in Lebanon.
The correspondent explained that the "Lebanese model" includes conducting airstrikes on the Gaza Strip to thwart the activities of Hamas in enhancing and reconstructing the sector, similar to what happened with Hezbollah.
He added that the army expects the outlines of its operational methods in the Gaza Strip to become clear within a few weeks during the second phase.
He mentioned that the army sees the necessity of giving a chance to the ongoing movements, including plans to disarm Hamas without directly using Israeli military force.
He further added that the high command of the army approved offensive plans in anticipation of a return to fighting in Gaza if these disarmament efforts fail.
The army radio correspondent reported that senior officials stated that in a few weeks, they would be able to regain full control over the entire Gaza Strip, indicating that this time the operation would be faster, firmer, and more powerful as there are no longer obstacles to maneuvering in the area with hostages detained.
He said that the plan to resume fighting approved by the Israeli Chief of Staff includes relocating residents to defend the area and expanding the scope of fire usage after evacuating the residents, and a "gradual cleansing phase" of the area, according to what the correspondent reported from the officials.
After completing the necessary phase to evacuate the area from weapons and tunnels, the Israeli army intends to allow residents to return to the area provided they pass through inspection via networks of paths.
On October 10, 2025, the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) came into effect following a genocide committed by Israel in the sector.
In mid-January of last year, the U.S. administration announced the start of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.
The genocide, supported by the U.S., resulted in over 71,000 martyrs and more than 171,000 injured Palestinians, along with widespread destruction affecting about 90% of civil infrastructure, while the United Nations estimated the reconstruction cost at around $70 billion.
In Lebanon, Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement concluded with Hezbollah since late November 2024 continue, under the pretext of targeting infrastructure belonging to the party.
