SadaNews - The Freedoms Committee of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate documented an unprecedented series of Israeli violations against journalists in the West Bank and Gaza Strip during the month of August 2025, reaching 86 crimes and violations, resulting in a heavy toll of martyrs, wounded, and detainees, in addition to the targeting of homes and media offices and systematic incitement.

According to the report, 15 journalists were martyred during the month, including **3 female journalists**: Marwa Muslim, Mariam Abu Daqa, and Islam Abed, raising the number of martyrs among journalists since the beginning of Israeli aggression in October 2023 to 247 martyrs from the journalistic profession.

Moreover, 9 journalists sustained injuries of varying severity, including injuries that led to amputations or permanent paralysis.

Fifteen journalists and female journalists were martyred, including 3 female journalists (Marwa Muslim – Mariam Abu Daqa – Islam Abed).

Among the notable massacres: On 10/8, 6 journalists were martyred at once near Al-Shifa Hospital, and on 25/8, 5 journalists were martyred and 4 others were injured at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis.

Injuries

At least 6 journalists were severely injured due to shrapnel from rockets and live ammunition, most of which resulted from direct shelling, and some of these injuries led to permanent disabilities (amputation of a foot – complete paralysis – spinal injury).

Three relatives of journalists were martyred, and 4 homes belonging to their families were destroyed, along with the destruction of the "Alam News" office, and the confiscation of contents from the "Abu Joudeh" printing house in Al-Arroub camp, and a renewed decision to close Al Jazeera's office in Ramallah.

Arrests: There were 3 notable cases of arrest: journalist Farah Abu Ayyash, photographer Muath Ammarneh (administrative detention for 4 months), and journalist and media professor Asid Ammarneh.

Assaults and Work Prevention: 6 incidents of direct assault on press crews were documented, 33 journalists were prevented from covering in the West Bank (Al-Mughayer, Beit Dajan, Ramallah, Nablus), and 3 cases of assaults by settlers were recorded.

Israeli Media Incitement: 3 cases of incitement by Israeli journalists and official pages were recorded, including Amit Segal (Channel 12),
Tzvika Yehezkel (i24), and the page "Israel Speaks Arabic".

The head of the Freedoms Committee, Mohammed Al-Laham, confirmed that targeting Palestinian journalism has become a systematic policy aimed at not only obscuring the truth but also at marginalizing the Palestinian cause and distorting the facts, calling on international and human rights organizations to take urgent action to provide protection for journalists and hold perpetrators of crimes accountable.
