A Bill in Iran to Withdraw from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons

SadaNews - The Vice Chairman of the Article 90 Committee of the Iranian Parliament, Hossein Ali Hajidelitani, announced today (Friday) the initiation of drafting a "urgent bill for Iran's complete withdrawal from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons."

Hajidelitani explained that the bill will be submitted tomorrow to the Parliament's internal system to undergo the legal process of discussion and voting in the public sessions next week, according to the "German News Agency."

He stated in a remark to the "Tasnim" Iranian News Agency regarding the activation of the "snapback mechanism" for reimposing UN sanctions on Tehran, "As expected, the three countries, Germany, France, and Britain, announced the activation of this mechanism."

He added: "As we said previously, these countries were already applying the consequences of the snapback mechanism against us, including sanctions, even before its official announcement, and this is not new."

He continued: "We have serious criticism regarding the performance of the diplomatic team and the Foreign Minister in dealing with these three countries that are themselves the source of many problems in the world. If those futile communications and negotiations had not taken place, we would not be facing the announcement of the activation of the snapback mechanism today."

Hajidelitani revealed that the Parliament has begun working on drafting an urgent project for complete withdrawal from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, adding: "The project will be submitted tomorrow to the Parliament's electronic system to undergo the necessary legal procedures for discussion and voting during public sessions next week."

He emphasized that "this step represents the simplest basic reaction from the Parliament towards what has happened, and it will be followed by other actions that will make the countries that pressured for the activation of the snapback mechanism regret it."

Hajidelitani concluded by saying: "Our people are watching all these issues, and there is no one in Iran who does not believe that negotiating with these countries is futile. Therefore, we must stop all forms of dialogue with them until they abandon this double behavior."

The "European Troika" (Germany, France, and Britain) activated what is known as the mechanism for re-imposing UN sanctions on Iran due to its nuclear program in a letter sent to the UN Security Council.

The letter, which the "German News Agency" has seen, could lead to the re-application of punitive measures on Iran that were lifted in the previous decade. Moreover, the international nuclear agreement with Iran will come to an end decisively upon the completion of the process.

The goal of the agreement, which is scheduled to end next October, is to prevent Iran from making a nuclear bomb. The document specifically regulates the independent verification of the Iranian nuclear program and sets limits on the amount of uranium and its enrichment.

The actions show that the three European countries, known as the "European Troika," have run out of patience, considering the deadline approaching in mid-October.
