"Supreme Council for Churches" Issues Identical Messages Calling on Churches Worldwide to Act to Stop Genocide, Displacement, and Starvation in Gaza

Sada News - The Presidential Higher Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine has issued an urgent call to churches and their institutions worldwide, demanding action to stop the crimes of genocide, forced displacement, and starvation being committed by the Israeli occupation against the people in the Gaza Strip.

The committee, in identical messages sent by its chairman, Dr. Ramzi Khoury, a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, urged churches to exert immediate pressure to halt these crimes and ensure the necessary international protection for the people of Gaza who are suffering the horrors of killing, displacement, and starvation.

It pointed out in its messages that the St. Porphyrius Orthodox Church and the Holy Family Latin Church have turned into shelters for women, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities, calling for protection for them and all forcibly displaced individuals, especially in light of the refusal of priests and nuns to leave the churches, affirming their stay in Gaza despite the direct dangers.

The committee addressed the heads of churches and their affiliated institutions, stating: "Let the voice of churches around the world be more than just a humanitarian echo; let it be a cry for justice in the face of oppression, and a call for justice, mercy, and peace... We cannot remain silent."

The committee emphasized in its identical messages: "There can be no future based on captivity, displacement, or revenge against Palestinians," asserting that forced displacement is a crime under international law and contradicts humanitarian principles.
