"The Environmental Quality Authority" and "Palestine Bank" Hold a Training Workshop to Establish Sustainability Concepts and Sustainable Work for Bank Employees
SadaNews - The Environmental Quality Authority organized a specialized training workshop for employees of Palestine Bank titled "Sustainability of Natural Resources and Reducing Their Depletion," as part of joint efforts to enhance environmental culture and solidify sustainability principles, coinciding with World Environment Day, and in line with national trends towards adopting more responsible practices in natural resource management and reducing their depletion to protect them for future generations.
The workshop was held at the headquarters of Palestine Bank in Ramallah, with active participation from several employees representing various departments and administrative units. It addressed a range of specialized topics, most notably the reality of natural resources in Palestine and the challenges it faces, concepts of sustainability and its role in achieving sustainable development goals, proper management of solid waste, in addition to the role of institutions in enhancing the efficiency of resource use and reducing their depletion.
The Environmental Quality Authority emphasized that organizing this workshop is part of its vision aimed at raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainable practices across various sectors, pointing to the importance of expanding partnerships with private sector institutions, especially the banking sector, for its ability to create a broad positive impact and support the transition to a low-carbon economy.
It added that environmental work is no longer an option but a necessity to face the increasing environmental challenges, stressing that integrating environmental considerations into the policies, strategies, and operational plans of institutions contributes to protecting natural resources and enhancing the capacity to face current and future challenges. It also commended the existing partnership with Palestine Bank, which represents a successful model of integration among national institutions in serving environmental issues and sustainable development.
For its part, Palestine Bank confirmed that environmental sustainability is one of the key pillars of its sustainability strategy, as it is keen to integrate responsible environmental practices into its banking operations and various corporate activities, thus enhancing its contribution to achieving sustainable development and creating a long-term positive impact at all levels, based on its belief that raising awareness starts internally by fostering a culture of sustainability and making it a common language at the internal level.
The bank emphasized its commitment to continue supporting environmental initiatives and enhancing its presence in programs and activities aimed at protecting the environment and preserving its natural resources, in collaboration with relevant local and international institutions. It also valued the strategic partnership with the Environmental Quality Authority, confirming the importance of investing in building the capacities of employees and developing their environmental knowledge, enabling them to adopt more sustainable practices and decisions within and outside the work environment, thus contributing to establishing an institutional culture based on responsibility and environmental awareness.
