
Losses in Gaza Exceed $68 Billion After 700 Days of War
SadaNews - A report issued by the government media office in Gaza Strip stated that approximately 90% of the infrastructure in the sector has been destroyed after 700 days of ongoing war. Destruction has affected various economic sectors.
According to the media office, Israeli forces have dropped about 125,000 tons of explosives on the sector, resulting in almost complete destruction of buildings and vital facilities.
The media office's statement noted that the Israeli war machine destroys nearly 300 buildings daily in Gaza Strip, with more than 90% of buildings already destroyed.
The office indicated that the war targeted 15 vital sectors, showing that the total direct initial losses in these sectors exceed $68 billion.
Ismail Thawabteh, the director of the government media office, stated that the figures are not final and do not include indirect losses, as the war is still ongoing.
Key losses
Residential buildings: More than 161,000 housing units have been completely destroyed, and 194,000 units partially, displacing hundreds of thousands of residents.
Educational institutions: Destruction of 137 schools and universities completely, and 357 partially, greatly impacting the educational process in the sector.
Health facilities: Destruction of 38 hospitals, exacerbating the health crisis in light of the ongoing blockade.
Mosques: 832 mosques have been completely destroyed, affecting religious and social life in the sector.
Roads and infrastructure: About 2.8 million meters of road networks have been destroyed, hindering the movement of citizens and humanitarian supplies.
288,000 families have lost their homes and are now homeless.
112,000 truckloads have been prevented from entering the sector.
725 water wells have been destroyed and taken out of service.
5,080 kilometers of electricity lines have been completely destroyed.
700,000 linear meters of water lines have been completely destroyed.
3 million meters of streets and roads have been completely destroyed.
$2.8 billion in losses in the agricultural sector, where 94% of agricultural land has been destroyed and devastated.
100% of fishing areas have been destroyed along with fishing boats and targeting of fishermen.
