Moroccan Security Announces Foiling of "Terrorist Plans" Linked to ISIS

SadaNews - Moroccan security authorities announced yesterday, Monday, the foiling of "terrorist plans" and the arrest of 10 individuals in 7 cities, suspected of being connected to a cell that received support and guidance from the ISIS affiliate in the African coastal region.

The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations, affiliated with the Directorate General for National Territory Surveillance, clarified that it foiled "terrorist plans" that aimed at "seriously undermining public order and the safety of individuals and property."

The bureau added in a statement that 10 individuals were arrested across 7 cities on suspicion of receiving support and guidance from the ISIS branch in the coastal region.

It explained that special forces from the Directorate General for National Territory Surveillance carried out the arrests simultaneously in the cities of Agadir, Taroudant, Tetouan, El Hajeb, Fkih Ben Saleh, Casablanca, and Safi.

The statement indicated that among the detainees was a former convict under anti-terrorism laws, as well as a minor.

The bureau noted that the search operations resulted in the seizure of military uniforms, extremist manuscripts detailing how to assemble explosive devices, as well as digital materials and visual contents, including two recordings featuring the text of the pledge of allegiance to ISIS and explicit threats to commit acts of sabotage within Morocco.

Search operations also led to the discovery of white weapons and equipment that the bureau stated were intended for executing the "terrorist plans."

The Moroccan announcement coincided with widespread Arab condemnations, with Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, and the UAE expressing solidarity with Morocco, affirming their support for the actions taken by the Kingdom to protect its security.

These countries reiterated in official statements their stance against violence and terrorism, confirming their full solidarity and support for Morocco, and backing all measures it takes to preserve security and stability.
