Trump affirms: Iranians are eager to sign an agreement
SadaNews - In the midst of his repeated threats to Iran in recent days, despite ongoing negotiations through the Pakistani mediator, U.S. President Donald Trump believes that "Iranians are eager to sign an agreement" to end the war that erupted on February 28.
Trump added in an interview with Fortune magazine published today, Monday, that "Iranians are screaming from the effects of the war", as he described it.
He also pointed out that Iran "talks about the agreement and then presents a document unrelated to any terms", referring to its changing positions and conditions.
"They keep changing their conditions"
This comes as Iran announced earlier today that it had responded to a new U.S. proposal aimed at ending the war, adding that communications are still ongoing through Pakistan. The spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, Ismail Baqaei, said during a press conference: "As we announced yesterday, our concerns have been conveyed to the American side".
He also added that communication is still "ongoing through the Pakistani mediator", without providing additional details.
Meanwhile, a Pakistani source revealed that his country submitted an amended Iranian proposal to the U.S. side last night. He confirmed that the two countries continue to change their conditions, according to what was reported by Reuters.
Trump issued stern warnings to Tehran yesterday, emphasizing that time is running out. He said in a post on his platform Truth Social: "They better move quickly, otherwise there will be nothing left of them", as he expressed.
While the Iranian side spoke of "an American refusal to make concessions, clinging to unacceptable conditions", according to Iranian media reports.
Iran rejects Washington's demand to transfer quantities of highly enriched uranium to the United States, as well as keeping one Iranian nuclear facility operational.
The Iranian side is also insisting on lifting the freeze on all Iranian funds held abroad, while the U.S. hints at its willingness to lift the freeze on only 25%.
