Report: Israel Freezes All "Sensitive" Operations in Southern Lebanon at American Request

SadaNews - The Israeli political level has instructed the army to freeze all operations deemed "sensitive" in southern Lebanon, based on a request from the United States to refrain from implementing "exceptional operations."

These instructions will remain in effect until new orders are issued, as well as until the fate of the current escalation between America and Iran becomes clear, and the fate of the negotiations between Israel and Lebanon; according to the Israeli broadcasting authority ("Kan 11").

This comes at a time when the American administration, preoccupied in recent days with the escalation with Iran, fears that Israel could also be drawn into this battle.

An Israeli security source stated that Tel Aviv is prepared to exploit any Iranian attack on it to respond with wide strikes. However, based on a request from the White House, the Israeli army has been instructed to wait in order to prevent the current confrontation between Washington and Tehran from widening to include Israel.

According to the report, it is expected that the Israeli army will begin withdrawing from the trial areas in southern Lebanon under the framework agreement starting next week, coinciding with a new round of talks between Beirut and Tel Aviv in the Italian capital, Rome.

The American ambassador to Israel, Yahel Leiter, will head his country's delegation in the upcoming talks, along with the team that also participated in previous rounds of negotiations with the Lebanese side.

An American official stated on Thursday that the first trial area in Lebanon will be determined within days, with the Lebanese army entering it in exchange for the withdrawal of the Israeli army, as stipulated in the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries.

The American official noted that work is underway to establish walls and identify other trial areas.
