World Health Organization Assures the World Regarding Hanta Virus Outbreak
SadaNews - The World Health Organization has announced that it has kept its assessment of the Hanta virus outbreak at a "low risk" level, despite the cruise ship where the virus appeared nearing the Dutch shores.
The organization stated that the risk reassessment based on the latest available information has shown that the risk to public health globally remains low, noting that the likelihood of transmission is expected to decrease after the disembarkation of passengers and the implementation of health monitoring measures.
The ship "MV Hondius" is expected to dock at the Port of Rotterdam, carrying 27 people, including 25 crew members and two medical team members.
The ship, operated by Oceanwide Expeditions, made headlines after three passengers died from Hanta virus infection, a rare disease for which no vaccines or specific treatments are available.
