Iran: No Plan for a Second Round of Negotiations with Washington

SadaNews: The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday that there is no plan to hold a second round of negotiations with the United States, at a time when the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that negotiations between Washington and Tehran are at a critical juncture.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baqaei stated, "There is no plan for a second round of negotiations with America at this time."

He added that "America has shown that it is not serious about proceeding with the diplomatic process, committing 'aggressive acts' and violating the ceasefire terms."

The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman considered that "the American proposals are not serious and their demands are unrealistic."

He pointed out that Tehran "has made its demands clear and will not change them," adding: "We do not care about deadlines or warnings when it comes to protecting Iranian interests."

For its part, Reuters quoted a senior Iranian source as saying that "the continued U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz undermines Iranian-American peace talks."

The source confirmed that "disputes over the nuclear program remain unresolved," adding that "Iran's defensive capabilities, including its missile program, are non-negotiable."

Iranian President Masoud Bezhakian said on Monday that "all rational and diplomatic avenues should be pursued to reduce tensions with Washington."

He added: "There is no doubt that we are vigilant and distrustful in our dealings with Washington."

For its part, the Chinese Foreign Ministry described the Iranian-American talks as "in a critical phase," indicating that Beijing will play a constructive role in this regard.

China expressed concern over the U.S. forces' seizure of an Iranian ship, urging both parties to engage in dialogue.

It also expressed hope that "the concerned parties act responsibly and adhere to the ceasefire agreement."
