Iran Refuses to Participate in the Second Round of Talks with Washington

SadaNews - While the US president expressed optimism about reaching an agreement with Iran, the official "Irna" agency reported that Tehran refused to participate in the second round of talks with the United States.

The agency stated that "there is no clear prospect for fruitful negotiations with Washington under these circumstances."

Meanwhile, local media indicated that Tehran has not yet decided on its participation in new talks with the United States. The Tasnim news agency reported earlier today that Iran has not yet decided to send a negotiating delegation to Pakistan "amid the ongoing maritime blockade."

A knowledgeable source, whose identity was not revealed, stated that "as long as the US Navy continues to close the Strait of Hormuz, there will be no further negotiations."

However, the agency noted that both sides exchanged messages in recent days mediated by Pakistan.

Negotiating Under Siege

In contrast, the US president clarified that an American delegation will head to Islamabad for negotiations, expected to arrive tomorrow evening.

He added that Washington has presented a "fair and reasonable offer" to Iran, expressing hope for its acceptance, while warning that if rejected, the United States would target energy facilities and bridges in Iran, according to his statement.

This comes as Pakistan continues its efforts to urge both sides to reach a settlement or agreement to end the war that erupted on February 28, before it was paused for two weeks until April 8.

A high-ranking Pakistani delegation led by Army Chief Asim Munir visited Tehran a few days ago, and it was reported that Trump discussed with Munir the situation of the Strait of Hormuz and the details of the agreement with the Iranian side in a phone call that took place last Saturday evening, attended by Vice President JD Vance and Secretaries of State Marco Rubio and Defense Pete Hegseth.
