Frenzy in the Sports World over Maduro's Suit; A Spanish Club Wore it Before Him

SadaNews - The sports suit worn by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro following his arrest by the U.S. military gained global fame and spread widely on social media.

Maduro was seen in a photo published by U.S. President Donald Trump wearing a gray suit with the logo of the famous sportswear company Nike, during his transfer from Venezuela to the United States under U.S. guard.

Maduro's Suit and Real Mallorca Team

The Spanish newspaper Marca reported that this type of sports suit is worn by the Real Mallorca team before their official La Liga matches.

It noted that the gray outfit with some black details worn by Mallorca players matches the one Maduro wore, except for the club's logo.

It pointed out that the jacket, in particular, is made from recycled materials and is sold separately for about 100 euros, while the pants are priced at 55.99 euros, making the total price for the complete outfit approximately 160 euros.

This similarity piqued significant interest to the extent that the sports suit sold out on the Nike website within a few hours, as confirmed by the Spanish newspaper.

Frenzy in the Sports World over Maduro's Suit

The frenzy over Maduro's suit was not limited to Spain, as it received great demand in stores across some countries amid expectations of depleting the remaining stock in the past few days.

Beyond the political implications of Maduro's arrest, the sports frenzy in purchasing his suit highlighted how an item related to clothing can transform into an online phenomenon, blending sports, fashion, and global events in a story that will continue to attract attention, as the newspaper itself expressed.

Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were arrested last Saturday morning in a military operation carried out by U.S. forces inside Venezuela, during which the capital Caracas and other cities experienced explosions coinciding with low-flying warplanes.

Maduro, Maradona's Friend, and Messi Admirer

Maduro is known for his great love of football as he is considered a fan of the Spanish team Barcelona, and he had a strong friendship with the late football legend Diego Maradona.

He also criticized the current management of Barcelona, led by Joan Laporta, for allowing their legendary star Lionel Messi to leave for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021, pointing out that he cried when he saw the "little flea" crying at the farewell press conference.
