How to Maintain Your Brain's Youth?
SadaNews - The website "Abunet D" reported that some factors maintain brain youth, while others lead to early brain aging, according to the results of a recent study conducted by the University of Florida.
The site, which is the official portal for German pharmacists, explained that using brain scans and intelligent algorithms, researchers determined the "brain age" of 821 middle-aged and elderly adults and identified factors with varying effects.
Protective Factors
The protective factors against early brain aging include:
Comfortable sleep.
Normal weight.
Proper management of psychological stress.
Quitting smoking.
Factors that Accelerate Aging
The factors that contribute to accelerating aging include:
Chronic pain.
Low income.
Low level of education.
Lack of social interaction.
The study results also showed that the brains of individuals with many protective factors were eight years younger than their actual ages. Additionally, the aging process progressed at a slower pace during the two-year follow-up period.
It is noteworthy that brain age is important for long-term health, as older adults' brains are known to be more susceptible to cognitive decline, dementia, and Alzheimer's disease.
