Galaxy S26 Armed with a Smart Feature to Combat the Most Dangerous Threats to Smartphones

SadaNews - After months of leaks, Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy S26 series during the Galaxy Unpacked event, where AI enhancements took center stage.

One of the most notable features is the arrival of AI-powered fraud detection, which was previously exclusive to Pixel phones, to the new Galaxy devices.

Stopping Fraud Attempts Before They Happen

The feature, made famous by Google’s Pixel phones, relies on onboard AI to analyze incoming calls and messages, detecting patterns associated with fraud attempts, according to a report published by "phonearena" that was reviewed by "Al Arabiya Business".

If suspicious indicators are detected, the user receives immediate audio and vibration alerts warning them of a potential scam before taking any action that could lead to financial loss or sensitive data exposure.

Operates Directly Through the "Samsung" App

Contrary to expectations, Galaxy S26 users will not need to install the Google Phone app to benefit from the feature, as it operates directly through the default calling app in Samsung phones.

It will be disabled by default, requiring users to manually activate it from the phone app settings.

Google emphasizes that call and message analysis occurs on the device itself, without uploading conversations to the cloud, in order to protect user privacy.

The scanning is also limited to unknown numbers only.

A Global Threat Worth Billions of Dollars

This move comes at a time when digital fraud crimes are rising globally.

According to data from the "Global Fraud Alliance", losses from scams via calls and messages during 2024 surpassed one trillion dollars worldwide, making smart protection tools a necessity rather than a luxury.

Currently Limited Support

Currently, the fraud detection feature is available in the Galaxy S26 series in English only, and is restricted to the United States.

In contrast, Pixel phones support the feature in other markets such as Australia, India, and the United Kingdom, opening the door for potential expansion to Samsung users in additional countries in the near future.

Google has also indicated that the feature will not remain exclusive to Samsung and Pixel phones, as there are plans to gradually roll it out to more Android devices.

With this development, competition among companies intensifies in the race to integrate AI technologies within the core user experience, not only to enhance performance but also to bolster digital security in the face of unprecedentedly evolving threats.
