Injuries Recorded in Bayern vs Sporting Match Due to Fireworks

SadaNews - Two individuals were injured after Sporting fans launched fireworks at the "Allianz Arena" during the UEFA Champions League match against Bayern Munich.

The police announced in a statement on Wednesday that a "29-year-old" fan, not involved in the incident, was taken to the hospital where he suffered an injury to his ear canal and some burns.

The other injured person, a "23-year-old" police officer, was suffering from acoustic shock.

The police arrested two suspects aged 38 and 47, who will be presented before a judge who will make a ruling regarding their detention, according to the police report.

Bayern fans also used fireworks, while Jan-Christian Dreesen, the club's CEO, confirmed after the match that he expects a partial closure of a section of the stands for fans.

Dreesen added: It is clear what the UEFA penalties will be, and there will be a partial ban on fans in the southern stand.

The southern stand is home to Bayern’s fan groups during the team's matches.

At the beginning of the second half, fireworks erupted across the entire stand.

Dreesen also said: Of course, I don’t think this is a good thing; the weather conditions afterwards also led to smoke and fog spreading in the stadium, and I was concerned that the game would stop and the stadium would be evacuated due to visibility issues, which is simply unacceptable.

Bayern’s official believes that this time, UEFA’s penalties may not just be a financial fine, reminding of the clear threat of sanctions from UEFA in similar incidents.

The president of Bayern could not explain how the fireworks made it into the stadium, adding: There must be early ways to bring them in multiple times.
