Netanyahu: Progress in a Special Project to Counter Drone Threats and We are Strengthening Our Military Capabilities

SadaNews - On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel is moving forward in enhancing its military capabilities, noting that the Air Force "is capable of reaching anywhere in the skies of Iran," as he put it.

Netanyahu's remarks came after the approval of the acquisition of two new squadrons of fighter jets, of the F-35 and F-15IA types, which he deemed as "strengthening Israeli air superiority," adding that Israel "is stronger than ever and must always remain significantly stronger than its enemies."

In a speech during a government session, Netanyahu said the new aircraft "support what he described as air superiority," pointing to this superiority in the war against Iran last June, as well as in the recent war, adding: "We have advanced aircraft and advanced pilots."

He also announced his directives for investing in the development of local arms production capacities, clarifying that the government intends to allocate about 350 billion shekels for the defense budget over the next decade, with the aim of "producing munitions within Israel and reducing dependence on foreign sources."

He added that this plan also includes the development of "advanced locally-made aviation means," which he claimed would "change the picture of the battle," without providing further details.

Regarding the threat of Hezbollah's drones, Netanyahu stated that he instructed weeks ago to establish "a special project to address this threat," noting that he would be presented with "a progress report on advancements in this area," adding that it "will take time, but work is ongoing on it."

These statements come in the context of preparations for the potential resumption of war against Iran, amidst ongoing operations in the Gaza Strip and the front with Lebanon, where the drone threat is one of the most prominent challenges facing Israel.
