Israeli Experts: Hezbollah's Fiber Optic Drones Are A Deadly Weapon That Is Difficult to Stop

SadaNews - The American CNN network reported from Israeli experts that Hezbollah's quadcopter drones that operate on fiber optics have become a lethal weapon for the party, as they are difficult to stop and detect, giving their operators high-resolution target visibility without broadcasting any signal that can be jammed, and it is impossible to discover the location from which they were launched.

CNN cited an Israeli military source stating that fiber optic drones are distinguished by their effectiveness; instead of a radio signal that controls the drone remotely, a fiber optic cable connects the drone directly to its operator.

It was pointed out that the optical cable can extend for distances of up to 15 kilometers or more, allowing the operator to remain at a safe distance, noting that except for physical barriers like nets, there is not much that can be done.

CNN reported from an Israeli source that Hezbollah provides each drone with a hand grenade or explosive device, resulting in a highly precise weapon that is almost invisible, enabling the party to launch targeted attacks against Israeli forces.

An Israeli official told the American network that the Israeli army is working with its intelligence directorate to find better ways to counter Hezbollah's fiber optic-equipped drones, but the threat remains present.
