Activities of 'Prisoners' Week' in Italy Continue with Wide Participation and Calls for European Legal Action

SadaNews - The activities of "Prisoners' Week" continue in Italy, organized by the Fatah Movement in collaboration with the Palestinian community. The first events launched two days ago in the capital, Rome, with the participation of several community members and Italian solidarity activists.

The participants during the opening discussed the tragic conditions faced by the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, highlighting the practices of oppression and violations inside the occupation prisons.

On the following day, the city of Bologna witnessed the opening of an exhibition dedicated to the late President Yasser Arafat (Abu Ammar), where Dr. Youssef Salman, head of the Palestinian community, emphasized the seriousness of the situation in the occupied territories, expressing gratitude to Italian solidarity movements and calling for intensified supportive activities for the Palestinian cause.

For his part, Dr. Imad Ali, Secretary of the Fatah Movement, discussed what he described as the "racist death penalty law," providing a legal interpretation of how it contradicts international, European, and Italian laws that prohibit dealings with countries applying the death penalty. He announced the launch of a legal and parliamentary campaign to discuss this issue within the Italian Parliament, preparing to transfer it to other European parliaments with the aim of banning Israel's participation in sporting, artistic, and international activities.

He indicated that a legal memorandum will be prepared to be presented before the Italian Parliament, with the participation of academics specializing in international, European, and criminal law. This initiative has received wide approval from the attendees.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Sharh, head of the Palestinian community in Romania, spoke about the increasing assaults by settlers, accompanied by land confiscation, killings, and destruction, describing it as "organized terrorism."

The "Prisoners' Week" activities are set to conclude today in the city of Padova, with expectations of continuing efforts and emphasizing the necessity for international action to support Palestinian prisoners.
