In its relief efforts, the Palestinian Islamic Bank supports the equipping of 5 health centers in the Gaza Strip

SadaNews - The Palestinian Islamic Bank has signed a cooperation memorandum with the Roots Foundation for Development and Social Work to equip 5 health centers in the Gaza Strip by providing them with the necessary medical equipment and medicines to deliver essential health services in the target areas.

This memorandum comes as part of the bank's commitment to its social responsibility and its keen interest in contributing to improving the health situation in the most affected areas, especially given the significant challenges faced by the health sector in Gaza due to the current conditions.

The cooperation memorandum was signed at the bank's headquarters in Ramallah in the presence of the General Director, Dr. Imad Al-Saedi, and the General Director of the Roots Foundation for Development and Social Work, Dr. Umayya Khammash, along with representatives from both sides.

Under the cooperation memorandum, the bank will work on supporting the equipping of 5 health centers in various areas within the sector, which includes providing essential medical devices and health supplies to ensure that these centers enhance their capacity to deliver primary care services and cover a larger segment of beneficiaries, in addition to alleviating the pressure on existing health facilities.

Dr. Imad Al-Saedi, the General Director of the Palestinian Islamic Bank, stated that this initiative comes in the context of the bank's firm commitment to its role in social responsibility, and it aligns with the trends of supporting vital sectors that the bank and its Board of Directors place high importance on, particularly in the health and education sectors. He emphasized the importance of partnerships with specialized civil institutions due to their active role in reaching the most needy groups.

Dr. Al-Saedi also confirmed the bank's continuous effort to help all citizens access comprehensive healthcare for all groups, especially amid the difficult humanitarian and living conditions faced by our people in the Gaza Strip.

He added, "This memorandum is part of a series of interventions undertaken by the bank in Gaza during the past period, including providing relief assistance to the displaced and contributions to support the education and health sectors, the latest of which was an agreement with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to establish a school in the Gaza Strip and an agreement with the SOS Children's Village to cover the educational expenses for 200 children."

For his part, Dr. Umayya Khammash, General Director of the Roots Foundation for Health and Social Development, stated that the foundation's interventions contribute to alleviating the suffering of our people in Gaza by providing integrated health and community services, which include primary healthcare, nutrition programs, psychological and social support, and community rehabilitation services.

Khammash added, "With great pride and appreciation, we extend our sincere thanks to the Palestinian Islamic Bank for its continuous support to our team in Gaza, and this support represents a true commitment that contributes to alleviating the suffering of our people in Gaza, supports the health system, and enhances their resilience in the harshest conditions. This is not the first time the bank has stood by us, embodying its ongoing commitment to support our work and serve our people in Gaza, as it also supports many other initiatives, reflecting its active role in humanitarian support."

Khammash explained that this support helps empower the institution to continue providing its vital services and reflects, at the same time, a living model of how Palestinian institutions work together and embody values of resilience and solidarity in facing challenges.

It is worth mentioning that the Roots Foundation currently manages 12 community health centers in the Gaza Strip, along with 10 medical points, providing services to nearly 100,000 patients monthly, in addition to reaching thousands of children. It also provides specialized treatment for children suffering from malnutrition, alongside implementing community rehabilitation programs and psychological and social support services.

The sustainable social responsibility policy of the Palestinian Islamic Bank emphasizes the necessity of its contribution to the development process and playing an active role in serving the community, alleviating the conditions of our people, improving their living conditions, and enhancing their resilience amidst the difficult circumstances they endure, aligned with the global goals of sustainable development.
