Rubio Talks About the "Opportunity" for Iran to Agree to a Deal with America
SadaNews - U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke about an "opportunity" for Iran to soon, and possibly later on Saturday, agree to a deal with the United States to end the war in the Middle East.
Rubio told reporters during his visit to India, "There is a chance that we will have something to say, whether it's later today, tomorrow, or within a few days," adding that he hopes for "good news".
He also urged Iran to hand over enriched uranium, stating, "The nuclear issue is urgent and the Strait of Hormuz must remain open."
Final Touches
Rubio's remarks came after the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ismail Baghaei, said on Saturday that Iran is focusing on finalizing a memorandum of understanding with the United States.
He added, "We are moving towards reducing disagreements this week, but we need to see what will happen in the coming days."
Baghaei noted that one of the important issues is the U.S. blockade, adding, "However, ending the war is our priority including in Lebanon."
He indicated that the negotiation period will begin as soon as the memorandum of understanding is agreed upon, stating, "Incorporating a deadline of 30 to 60 days in the text of the memorandum to resolve outstanding issues."
