Trump Gives Iran One Last Chance and Saudi Arabia Commends His Response

SadaNews - President Donald Trump stated today, Wednesday, that he will grant a "last chance" for negotiations with Iran, adding that he is not in a hurry.

Trump emphasized the need to open the Strait of Hormuz "immediately," saying, "We need to open the Strait of Hormuz, but I am not in a hurry... I am not rushing regarding Iran."

The U.S. president expressed confidence in Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's support for any path Washington takes regarding Iran. Speaking about Netanyahu and discussing the next steps with him regarding Iran, he said, "He is perfectly fine; he will do everything I ask of him; he is a very good man."

Trump told reporters today, "We have conducted significant military operations in Iran with minimal losses... Iran has been wiped out... Our forces did a great and remarkable job there." He continued, "The standard of living is bad in Iran... There is a lot of anger in Iran due to the standard of living."

On Tuesday, Trump revealed that he was on the verge of issuing an order for new strikes and gave Tehran a "two- or three-day" window to reach an agreement.

This comes as the Pakistani Interior Minister headed to Iran today for the second time in a week, amidst stalled negotiations between Tehran and Washington, which Islamabad is mediating to end the war.

A fragile ceasefire is in effect after six weeks of war that followed American-Israeli airstrikes on Iran, but the talks mediated by Pakistan have stalled.

Washington demands that Tehran abandon its nuclear program and allow shipping vessels to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, which typically carries five percent of the world's oil and liquefied gas supplies.

Meanwhile, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the Saudi Foreign Minister, expressed the Kingdom's appreciation for the U.S. president's response in granting an additional opportunity for negotiations to reach an agreement that ends the war and restores security and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz to what it was before February 28, 2026, contributing to addressing all contentious issues and enhancing the security and stability of the region.

The Saudi Foreign Minister affirmed the Kingdom's appreciation for diplomatic efforts and international endeavors aimed at containing the escalation while praising the ongoing mediation efforts by Pakistan to advance the negotiation process and bring the parties' viewpoints closer together.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan stressed the importance of seizing this opportunity to avoid further tensions and the serious repercussions of escalation, expressing Saudi Arabia's hopes for a prompt response from Iran to the efforts being made to advance negotiations and reach a comprehensive agreement that achieves sustainable peace and enhances regional and international security and stability.

This Saudi position comes amidst a rapid diplomatic movement led by several regional and international parties to reduce tensions and ensure the security of maritime passages and protect the stability of global energy and trade markets.

For its part, Iran is demanding compensation for war damages and the end of the American blockade on Iranian ports, as well as a cessation of fighting on all fronts.
