The Government Communication Center Monitors Key Interventions Carried Out by the Government Last Week

SadaNews: The Government Communication Center issued a report today, Sunday, highlighting the most important developmental and reform interventions implemented by the government during the past week (10/5/2026 – 16/5/2026), as follows:

Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa visited last Monday the conditions of the pilgrims heading to the holy lands to perform the Hajj this year, and reviewed the arrangements for their trip and preparations for their stay. He met in Jericho with activists and representatives of institutions, visited the industrial area, and inspected the cement mill that will be inaugurated soon to cover about 50% of local market needs. He reviewed projects implemented by the government and others underway in energy, water, and roads.

The Ministry of Education continued to implement developmental and educational projects worth approximately 2 million dollars, which included opening two tenders for the construction of a wall at Al-Sarra School in southern Hebron and the maintenance of the South Nablus Directorate’s building, in addition to announcing three tenders for the construction of a new school in Eastern Baqa’ in Tulkarem, rehabilitating two schools in southern Hebron, and establishing a kindergarten class in Aqaba in southern Nablus.

The ministry also concluded the annual review meeting for the education sector for the year 2025 with partners and supporters, affirming its commitment to protect and develop education despite challenges.

The ministry implemented a hydroponics project and compost production in 25 schools in partnership with local and international organizations, along with awareness workshops to enhance environmental awareness and national belonging among students.

In the context of monitoring violations by the occupation, the ministry followed up on the storming of Al-Sila Al-Dahir Secondary School for Boys and the incitement attacks on Qadri Toukan School in Nablus. The minister discussed with the village council of Al-Minya ways to enhance the resilience of the education sector in Bethlehem Governorate, in addition to announcing the results of the employment test for educational, auxiliary, and professional jobs for the academic year 2026/2027.

The Ministry of Social Development implemented extensive field interventions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip in partnership with supporting entities, including relief, protection, social care, and economic empowerment. In the relief sector, 11,624 families in the West Bank benefited from food and non-food parcels and vouchers worth 1,249,895 shekels, while 26,258 beneficiaries in Gaza received food assistance that included baby milk, meals, food parcels, and the distribution of 7,000 bread rolls and 100 cups of water, in addition to 3,300 beneficiaries receiving health parcels and mattresses.

For women’s protection, 148 interventions were carried out in the West Bank, and 5,915 beneficiaries in Gaza received psychological support, consultations, follow-ups, and referrals. In child and youth protection, 215 interventions for children and 68 for youth were executed in the West Bank, and 107 children in Gaza benefited from protection services. Additionally, 1,505 orphans in the West Bank and 330 beneficiaries in Gaza received food assistance, tents, and milk.

In the file of people with disabilities, 80 interventions were implemented in the West Bank, in addition to providing assistive tools for 285 beneficiaries in cooperation with the Arab Bank, which included wheelchairs, "walker" devices, medical mattresses, and white canes, while 17 beneficiaries in Gaza received glasses, a wheelchair, diapers, and specialized training.

The interventions also included 78 interventions for the elderly, providing 189 health insurance services, 53 interventions in the daycare files, and 27 economic empowerment interventions, along with supportive interventions for charitable societies and community and awareness programs in the West Bank and Gaza.

The Ministry of Public Works and Housing in Gaza, in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), began constructing the "Abd Al-Al" shelter center in the Safa area over an area of 3,800 square meters, in addition to signing a new host contract for a plot of land in Jabalia - Izam Land in Be'er Al-Najah region. The ministry also continued surveying the damages, where the cumulative number of damaged housing units reached 123,053 units, with 24,142 buildings documenting the damages. In the rubble removal file, more than 311,000 tons of rubble were collected, transported, and processed, about 144,000 tons were recycled, 361,000 square meters were covered to improve roads and infrastructure, more than 153,000 tons were crushed and 14,000 tons of fine concrete were produced, in addition to opening and cleaning roads extending over 114,000 meters, executing more than 21,000 workdays, and providing 383 temporary job opportunities.

In the West Bank, the ministry implemented asphalt paving work in the project to rehabilitate the road linking Birq Suleiman - Artas in Bethlehem, funded by the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa under the management of the Islamic Development Bank, and continued asphalt paving work in the project to rehabilitate Bal’a - Al’ara Road in Tulkarem.

The Ministry of Agriculture, in partnership with the "Siam Bari" Institute and the Palestinian Employment Fund, with support from Italian cooperation, established 4 grain silos with a capacity of 40 tons in Hajja, and delivered, in partnership with the "Siam Bari" Institute and the Palestinian Employment Fund, with support from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, equipment to the Al-Inma Cooperative Association for Animal Wealth in Kfar Deek in Salfit Governorate, which included a feed storage unit, a solar energy unit with a capacity of 6 kilowatts, two water tanks, a grinder, a feed press, in addition to 6 tons of barley.

The ministry launched, in cooperation with the European Union, training on agricultural value chain analysis (VCA4D) in Ramallah, and organized a course on agricultural applications of artificial intelligence within the "Sanit" project. Furthermore, in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and within the "My Initiative" project funded by the IBSA fund, advisory meetings were held for 40 male and female farmers in Taqou’a, Za’tara, and Al-Abediyah, and 20 farmers in the sarra of Al-Dura, in addition to an awareness meeting on hydroponics with Sharek Forum with the participation of 27 women from Jabal Jawhar.

The Minister of Agriculture discussed with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) supporting farmers' resilience and enhancing emergency response, chaired the second meeting of the steering committee for the Rural Financial Inclusion Project (RUFIPP) in partnership with the Ministry of Finance and Planning, with participation from the European Union, IFAD, AECID, the Monetary Authority, the Capital Market Authority, and the Ministry of Labor.

The Ministry of Local Government and its crews in the northern governorates continue to supervise the handover and takeover processes in several local councils according to legal procedures, with the process to be completed gradually in the remaining councils.

The project to supply and install energy-efficient street lighting units in the municipality of Karma in Hebron Governorate was also completed as part of the municipality development program funded by the Belgian Development Agency, aimed at supporting climate change projects and environmental protection.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates held a meeting with several ambassadors of the State of Palestine, chaired by the Vice President of the State of Palestine, during which the latest political developments were reviewed and efforts to intensify diplomatic efforts to garner international support for Palestinian rights and enhance movement in international forums were emphasized. The minister also discussed with honorary consuls ways to enhance cooperation and support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, participated in a youth meeting on the Palestinian cause and international law, in addition to her participation in the ministerial meeting of the nine Southern European countries (MED9++).

The police executed 1,189 arrests of wanted individuals, 2,537 judicial warrants, 58 drug control missions with confiscation of substances and legal measures taken, in addition to following up on 248 incidents of assaults, thefts, brawls, and criminal incidents. The Civil Defense executed 217 firefighting missions and 88 rescue missions, issued 313 permits for facilities, crafts, and industrial activities, inspected and licensed 276 elevators, and conducted 868 field rounds to examine public safety measures.

The customs authority also followed up on 50 cases of tax and customs evasion and market monitoring, and destroyed 2 tons of expired, unlicensed, and non-compliant goods.

The Ministry of Women’s Affairs continued its efforts to enhance the protection, monitoring mechanisms, and legislation related to women's rights, where the minister discussed with the United Nations Population Fund the development of cooperation in monitoring gender-based violence and the completion of work on the national observatory to monitor violence against women and participated in a consultative meeting to discuss issues of women's and family protection, strengthening the national protection system and enhancing the legal and policy environment related to it.

The Ministry of Labor signed a memorandum of understanding with the Birzeit municipality to establish a specialized vocational training center, and a code of conduct to regulate the public transportation sector in partnership with the Ministry of Transport and the General Federation of Trade Unions in Palestine. Additionally, it launched specialized courses in first aid, disaster management, and crisis management in cooperation with the Palestine Red Crescent Society totaling 50 hours for each course. The ministry executed 47 inspection visits to 45 establishments benefiting 648 workers and took 18 legal actions and conducted 10 awareness meetings, and 8 occupational health and safety visits targeting 286 workers.

The Palestinian Employment Fund, within the employment and economic response programs in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, executed interventions that included finishing job interviews and signing contracts with rubble removal workers, collecting 2,857.5 cubic meters of waste, increasing the number of beneficiaries from training to 2,250 beneficiaries, approving funding for 39 entrepreneurs, conducting training for 53 participants in the West Bank, paying an initial installment of 3,000 euros to 40 beneficiaries, and starting to pay a second installment of 2,500 euros to 66 beneficiaries, thereby enhancing employment opportunities and economic recovery.

The Civil Affairs Commission continues to implement its humanitarian and field interventions around the clock to support the steadfastness of citizens and facilitate the work of institutions despite closures and strict measures, which included securing the entry of citizens and farmers and water authority crews to their lands in Beirin east of Bani Naim, Halhul, and Beit Ummar for maintaining water networks and taking care of the lands, coordinating the entry of Yasser Amro School crews in Tel Rmeida, and holding a funeral in the Al-Karentina cemetery in Hebron.

In Salfit Governorate, maintenance work for the road in the Mahatwi area from Salfit to Bruqin was secured in cooperation with Salfit Municipality and the Directorate of Public Works.

In Qalqilya Governorate, the entry of farmers, equipment, and fodder was secured through the wall gates, maintenance was performed in the western region of Nabi Elias, in addition to the entry of agricultural materials including water pipes, fodder, and seedlings through the gates of Jayyus, Tsufim, and Habla. In Tulkarm Governorate, in cooperation with Tulkarm Municipality, work was secured to survey the main street in Noor Shams Camp in preparation for paving under the municipal fund grant. In Bethlehem Governorate, work was done to reopen roads closed by occupation forces in the town of Janata, and to coordinate the repair of the water line near the bypass road in Taqou’a.

The Water Authority and UNICEF signed the joint work plan 2026-2027 to implement developmental and humanitarian projects in the water and sanitation sectors, alongside continuing humanitarian interventions in Gaza by providing drinking water, and supporting the operation and maintenance of water and sanitation networks and desalination plants.

Efforts are also underway to secure funding to establish a water network in the village of Al-Attara, in addition to providing operational materials for desalination plants, and achieving 90% completion of the project to clean the basins of Sheikh Ajlin station, and implementing rehabilitation works for sewage lines and rainwater collection ponds in Khan Younis to serve thousands of citizens. In the context of facing the challenges of climate change, the Water Authority emphasized the importance of enhancing investment in infrastructure and climate adaptation, with funding of $620,000 allocated to implement a project to convert water facilities and agricultural wells to solar energy, thereby enhancing the sustainability of services and energy efficiency in Palestine.

The Energy and Natural Resources Authority is preparing to install a solar power system with a capacity of 450 kilowatts at the Jericho Government Hospital, which supports the stability of electricity supply and enhances the healthcare sector's readiness in emergencies, alongside launching a project to develop the medium-voltage network in the Eastern Luban area of Nablus Governorate with support from the World Bank, through the extension of underground cables and installation of substations to address voltage drop and improve electricity continuity in homes, schools, and health facilities. A series of training sessions on gender mainstreaming were also conducted in cooperation with the government-funded PROSPER project to promote equity and equality and enhance staff efficiency in integrating gender into policies and decision-making processes.

The Environmental Quality Authority conducted 33 inspection and monitoring rounds, followed up on 8 environmental complaints, granted 3 environmental approvals for industrial and agricultural projects and a cellular broadcasting station, in addition to issuing 11 permits for importing chemical materials. The Authority's head discussed with the Center for Talent and Creativity to enhance environmental and awareness activities in villages west of Ramallah, and the Environmental Quality Authority reviewed the AirAware project to monitor air quality, discussing the employment of artificial intelligence and data analysis to support pollution monitoring and environmental decision-making. In the field of awareness, the authority participated in school activities on solid waste recycling and enhancing environmental awareness.

The Ministry of Transport signed a code of conduct for public vehicle drivers in partnership with the Ministry of Labor and the Transport Workers Union, in addition to participating in the launch of the Arab Traffic Week 2026 in Tubas under the slogan "Slow Down.. We Are Waiting for You." The minister held meetings with the bus companies union in Hebron to discuss public transport challenges.

In the framework of digital transformation and improving services, the ministry registered 14,357 vehicle movements and plates, 9,407 driver movements, 1,331 practical exams, and 1,533 theoretical exams, along with 1,362 renewal and reactivation transactions, and 1,325 renewals of driver licenses related to dues. Meanwhile, the ministry dealt with 7 new complaints, accepted 5 of them, and closed and resolved 19 other complaints.

The Ministry of Culture organized cultural and literary seminars addressing the Nakba in contemporary narrative, narrative techniques, and aesthetics, in addition to workshops, dialogue sessions, and heritage and artistic activities aimed at children and youth, enhancing national and cultural awareness while commemorating the 78th anniversary of the Nakba. Heritage events were also organized to revive Palestinian heritage in Jericho and Hebron, and performances of "The Old City Storyteller" and interactive artistic activities for children in Yatta and Beit Aula, in addition to workshops for making puppets, soap, and reviving the craft of "local freekeh".

The ministry organized events about the folk tale and prisoner culture, a series of cultural and community activities, and poetry and zajal meetings in Salfit, alongside awareness activities in Bethlehem about the importance of vocational training and its role in meeting labor market requirements.

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities continued its efforts to protect cultural heritage and enhance domestic tourism, coinciding with Palestine's official accession to the International Council of Museums, a step that strengthens Palestinian presence globally. The ministry carried out over 28 field tours targeting 38 heritage and tourist sites, monitored 10 attacks on heritage sites, inspected 109 confiscated archaeological pieces. In supporting domestic tourism, the ministry received more than 52 tourist buses from Palestinian citizens inside, along with implementing and sponsoring tourism routes in Jenin, Nablus, Hebron, Bethlehem, and Jericho.

The ministry is also continuing in cooperation with the German Protestant Institute of Archaeology the archaeological excavations in the Church of the Nativity.
