Putin: Russia Will Do Everything Necessary for the Benefit of Iran and the Countries of the Region to Ensure Peace in the Middle East
SadaNews - President Vladimir Putin confirmed that Russia intends to continue its strategic relations with Iran and will do everything necessary for the benefit of Iran and the countries of the region to ensure peace in the Middle East.
During his talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Saint Petersburg, Putin said: "I would like to start our conversation by mentioning that I received a message from the Supreme Leader of Iran last week."
He added: "I would like to ask you to convey my sincere thanks and appreciation, and I affirm that Russia, like Iran, intends to continue our strategic relations. Please convey my thanks and appreciation to the Supreme Leader of Iran for this message, and my best wishes for his health, wellness, and success!"
He continued: "The Iranian people are fighting courageously and heroically for their sovereignty, and Russia hopes that the Iranian people will overcome this difficult period and that peace will prevail in the country."
He added: "Certainly, we strongly hope that the Iranian people, inspired by their courage and desire for independence, will overcome this difficult phase of trials under new leadership, and that peace will prevail."
Putin emphasized: "We will do everything in our power to achieve your interests and the interests of all the peoples of the region, in order to achieve this peace as soon as possible."
Araghchi arrived in Saint Petersburg early Monday in an official visit to Russia after a brief stop in Pakistan and Oman during a regional tour.
