
Ministry of Interior Announces Mechanism for Issuing Passports for Gaza Residents in the Current Stage
SadaNews - In appreciation of the needs of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and to facilitate their access to the Palestinian passport using the modern biometric system, which ensures the highest levels of security and data accuracy, aligns with the highest international standards for official documents, is considered a significant step in enhancing the reliability of the Palestinian passport and contributes to facilitating citizens’ travel.
The Palestinian Ministry of Interior announces to the citizens of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip the mechanism for issuing the Palestinian passport in the current phase, according to the newly approved procedures, as follows:
1. Upon completing the travel procedures for citizens to the Arab Republic of Egypt, they should head to the Rafah land crossing, where they will be issued a temporary travel document (entry document only) at the crossing, allowing them to pass into Egyptian territory. It should be noted that the staff of the State of Palestine Embassy in Egypt will be present on the Egyptian side of the crossing as previously practiced.
2. After entering the Arab Republic of Egypt, citizens should proceed to the State of Palestine Embassy in Cairo or the General Consulate in Alexandria to submit an application for issuing the Palestinian passport using the biometric system.
3. The electronically completed applications will be forwarded to the General Directorate of Passports in Ramallah to complete the printing procedures, and then the completed passports will be sent to the embassy and consulate to be delivered to the citizens according to the established procedures.
The Ministry of Interior confirms that this is the only and currently approved mechanism for issuing passports for our people in the Gaza Strip.
