Decline in Construction and Water Costs in the West Bank... Increase in Road Costs during March

SadaNews Economic - The Central Bureau of Statistics reported a decrease in the price index of construction costs and water and sewage networks in the West Bank during the past month of March, while the index for road costs showed an increase.

Construction costs for residential buildings recorded a decline of 0.20% in March compared to the previous month; the price index for construction costs for residential buildings decreased to 118.24, compared to 118.48 in February.

At the level of major groups, the prices for the group of labor costs and wages decreased by 0.79%, while the prices for the groups of raw materials and primary materials and equipment rental registered a slight increase of 0.09% each during March 2026 compared to the previous month.

The prices for construction costs for non-residential buildings also recorded a decline of 0.19%; the price index for construction costs for non-residential buildings decreased to 117.24, compared to 117.46 in February 2026.

At the level of major groups, the prices for the group of labor costs and wages recorded a decrease of 0.79%, while the prices for the group of raw materials and primary materials showed a slight increase of 0.08%, and the prices for the equipment rental group had a slight increase of 0.05% during March 2026 compared to the previous month.

The prices for construction costs for structural buildings recorded a significant decrease of 56.0% during the monitored month; the price index for construction costs for structural buildings decreased to 114.41 compared to 115.05 in February.

At the level of major groups, the group of labor costs and wages recorded a decrease of 1.56%, while the group of raw materials and primary materials recorded a decrease of 0.11%, while the equipment rental group had a slight increase of 0.09% during March 2026 compared to the previous month.

Meanwhile, the prices for road construction costs of various types increased by 0.49%; the overall price index for road costs rose to 112.39, compared to 111.84 in last February.

At the level of major groups, the prices for the group of machinery operation and maintenance costs increased by 2.35%, while the prices for the group of labor costs and wages increased by 1.67%, and the prices for the group of raw materials and primary materials increased by 0.38%. Meanwhile, the equipment rental group remained stable during March 2026 compared to the previous month.

On the other hand, the prices for water network construction costs recorded a decline of 0.55%; the price index for water network construction costs decreased to 124.01 compared to 124.70 in February.

For the prices of water networks, the index recorded a decrease of 0.67%, falling to 129.72 compared to 130.61 in the previous month, while the prices for water tanks recorded a decline of 0.22%, dropping to 111.44 compared to 111.69 in the previous month.

The prices for the construction costs of sewage networks in the West Bank recorded a decrease of 0.68% during March 2026 compared to the previous month; the index dropped to 112.58, compared to 113.35 in February.
