UNRWA: Rain Worsens the Suffering of Displaced People in Gaza and Floods Tents Amid the Risk of Disease Outbreaks
SadaNews - The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) stated that the rainfall in the Gaza Strip exacerbates the catastrophic humanitarian conditions faced by hundreds of thousands of displaced individuals, particularly in camps and areas lacking basic protective measures.
UNRWA clarified in a post on its official platform on "X" today, Thursday, that the flooded streets and water seeping into the tents of the displaced worsen the already deteriorating living conditions. It noted that the severe cold, overcrowding, and lack of sanitation increase the risk of disease and infection, especially among children.
The agency emphasized that this worsening suffering can be avoided through the unhindered flow of humanitarian aid, including medical supplies and suitable shelter materials that enable families to face the harsh winter conditions safely and with dignity.
