Israeli Warning Regarding Iranian Plot to Assassinate Trump

SadaNews - American media reported late Thursday - Friday that Israel shared intelligence this week with the United States concerning a new and specific Iranian plot to assassinate President Donald Trump.

This news comes at a time when the renewed attacks between the United States and Iran have raised concerns about a return to full-scale war, and after Trump, rather surprisingly, used an old presidential plane to depart Turkey following the conclusion of a NATO summit.

The "CNN" network, citing unnamed knowledgeable sources, stated that Washington was monitoring a "continuous flow" of intelligence regarding a potential plot to assassinate Trump, "but the Israeli warning was new and related to a specific plan."

The network reported from two knowledgeable sources that the Israeli warning reached Washington this week, indicating that the United States had been tracking a continuous flow of intelligence over the past weeks regarding potential plans targeting Trump; however, the Israeli warning was new and related to a specific plot.

American officials told the network that the Israeli report could be partly an attempt to influence the decision-making process within the Trump administration, at a time when the American president is considering the possibility of escalating military action against Iran.

According to the network, the details of the plot warned against by Israel were not immediately clear, while two knowledgeable sources indicated that the United States had not independently verified the accuracy of the Israeli information, nor had it been tracking this plot before the warning from Tel Aviv.

The "Wall Street Journal" also reported, citing undisclosed sources, that the intelligence described a "new" plot.

Tehran has vowed for years to take revenge on Trump for his ordering, in January 2020 during his first presidential term, the assassination of Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the "Quds Force" of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One while returning from the NATO summit, "They want to eliminate the American leader - me. I saw this morning that I'm on every one of their lists."
