Shabak Chief Meets Mohamed Dahlan in the UAE
SadaNews - The head of the Israel Security Agency "Shabak" David Zini met with former Fatah leader Mohamed Dahlan during his recent visit to the United Arab Emirates, to discuss arrangements for the future political and security scene in the Gaza Strip, according to the Israeli news site "Makan".
Sources from regional and Israeli sides reported that the meeting took place in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, where Dahlan has been residing for years after leaving Palestine, having previously held the position of head of the Preventive Security Service in Gaza.
The Shabak refrained from officially commenting on the details of the meeting, limiting itself to a statement indicating that it would not address the agenda and movements of the agency's head.
These movements come at a time when international media reports, including what was published by the "Wall Street Journal", indicate that officials from the United States, Israel, and Arab countries are proposing Dahlan's name as a prominent candidate to manage the Strip in the post-war phase.
For his part, the former Palestinian leader announced in media statements that he refuses to take any security, executive, or ministerial position, instead calling for the formulation of a realistic and applicable international action plan that leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
In this context, the UAE capital is witnessing increasing political activity, with reports revealing previous meetings that included Israeli figures, among them former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
The head of the Mossad, Dedi Barnea, has also made repeated secret visits to the UAE in recent times to enhance joint security coordination.
The visit of Shabak chief David Zini falls within the framework of strengthening security and strategic relations between Tel Aviv and Abu Dhabi, and discussing regional arrangements in light of current developments and the challenges surrounding the region.
