Smotrich: For Every Explosive Drone, Ten Buildings in Beirut Should Fall

SadaNews - Amid escalating tensions on the Lebanese-Israeli border, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich made controversial statements, asserting that confronting explosive drones cannot be achieved through defense alone, but through attack. He stated: "For every explosive drone, ten buildings in Beirut should fall," referencing a deterrence policy targeting civilian infrastructure.

For its part, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported from military sources that the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army has indeed called for attacking buildings in Beirut, in response to the threat posed by explosive drones, which have become an increasing challenge for Israeli forces.

In a field development, Channel 15 in Israel reported an initial report of an explosion involving a drone inside a building in the border town of Metula, with no injuries reported. This incident comes a day after the Israeli army announced the death of one soldier and the serious injury of another in battles in southern Lebanon.

The Israeli army radio also revealed that 11 Israeli officers and soldiers have been killed since the recent ceasefire in Lebanon, including seven as a result of explosive drone attacks, five of whom were within Lebanese territory.
