Zamir Approves Plans to Continue War on Lebanon: Ready to Resume in Iran

SadaNews - Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir approved plans today, Sunday, to continue the war on Lebanon, emphasizing that his army "is continuing to monitor regional developments".

Zamir held a "situation assessment today, and approved plans for ongoing combat in the northern command along with the General Staff," according to a statement released by the army this evening.

The statement mentioned that Zamir "visited the headquarters of the 401st Brigade, met with the acting commander, and spoke with the brigade leaders and fighters".

Zamir stated in comments made during the situation assessment: "The Israeli army continues to monitor regional developments and is on high alert to return to intensive combat immediately, continuing to weaken the Iranian regime and its capabilities".

He added: "We will maintain our readiness and flexibility as long as necessary. In the northern command, we continue to attack Hezbollah on all fronts, and I assure you that the security of the civilians and our forces comes above all else. Wherever you go, you leave an enemy exhausted fighting for survival".

Zamir said: "I approved today plans to continue the war in the north (on Lebanon); we are determined to inflict more damage on Hezbollah across all its ranks".

He added: "We are working to ensure and enhance the security of the northern residents," stressing that "the damage to Hezbollah is systematic and ongoing, and we will not stop confronting it, continuing to eliminate Hezbollah elements and their infrastructure that threaten the northern residents and our forces".

This comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said today, Sunday, that he agreed with U.S. President Donald Trump that any final agreement with Tehran must eliminate the Iranian nuclear threat.

Before Netanyahu's statement, Trump stated he had informed U.S. negotiators to "not rush into an agreement" with Iran aimed at ending the war.
