Netanyahu: I agreed with Trump that any deal with Iran must eliminate the nuclear threat

SadaNews - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Sunday that he agreed with U.S. President Donald Trump that any final deal with Iran must lead to the elimination of the nuclear threat.

Netanyahu added that "this means dismantling Iran's nuclear enrichment facilities and removing enriched nuclear materials from its territory."

In a statement issued by Netanyahu, following a call with the U.S. President, he said: "President Trump and I agreed that any final agreement with Iran must completely eliminate the nuclear threat. This means dismantling Iran's uranium enrichment facilities and removing enriched nuclear materials from its territory."

The Israeli Prime Minister emphasized that Trump reaffirmed Israel's right to defend itself against threats on all fronts, including Lebanon.

Netanyahu noted that his policy is similar to Trump's and remains the same: "Iran will not possess nuclear weapons."

President Trump assured the Israeli Prime Minister that any deal with Iran would include dismantling the nuclear program and transferring Tehran's stockpile of enriched uranium, according to an Israeli official who spoke today, Sunday, on condition of anonymity.

The official stated in a statement that during the phone call that took place Saturday evening, "President Trump clearly stated that he would be firm in negotiations regarding his longstanding demand to dismantle the Iranian nuclear program and remove all enriched uranium from Iranian territory, and that he would not sign a final agreement without these two conditions."

The official also added that Netanyahu stressed during his conversation with President Trump that "Israel will retain the freedom to act against threats in all arenas, including Lebanon, and that President Trump renewed his support for this principle."

These recent developments come amid statements from Trump and reports indicating that the United States and Iran are on the verge of reaching an agreement on a memorandum of understanding to end the war.

Media reports have pointed out that Israel is in a state of concern following Trump's statements and reports indicating that the United States and Iran are close to reaching a deal to end the war.
