Details of the "Imminent" Agreement Between Washington and Tehran

SadaNews - As the signing of an agreement to end the Iran War seems imminent, the American news site "Axios" revealed details about its anticipated terms.

According to an American official, the agreement that the United States and Iran are nearing signing includes a 60-day extension of the ceasefire, during which the Strait of Hormuz will reopen without fees, allowing Iran to sell its oil freely, while further negotiations will take place regarding curbing its nuclear program.

This agreement is expected to avoid escalating the war and alleviate pressure on global energy supplies.

However, it remains unclear whether it will lead to a permanent peace agreement that also meets the nuclear demands of U.S. President Donald Trump, which are also called for by Israel.

Both Trump and intermediaries have indicated the possibility of announcing the agreement on Sunday, although it has not been finalized.

The American official provided a summary of the current draft of the agreement, which has been verified by other sources familiar with the negotiations.

While the Iranian side has not confirmed these details, Tehran has also indicated that reaching an agreement is close.

What does the agreement include?

- The two parties will sign a memorandum of understanding that extends the ceasefire for 60 days, which is renewable.

- During this period, the Strait of Hormuz will open without crossing fees, and Iran will agree to remove the mines it has planted in the strait to allow ships to pass freely.

- In exchange, the United States will lift its blockade on Iranian ports and grant Iran some sanctions exemptions to allow it to sell oil freely.

- Iran commits to not seeking to acquire nuclear weapons.

- Further negotiations will occur during the 60 days regarding suspending the uranium enrichment program and removing Tehran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium.

- According to two informed sources, Iran has made verbal commitments to the United States, through intermediaries, regarding the extent of concessions it will offer regarding suspending enrichment and relinquishing its stockpiles of enriched uranium.

- The United States will agree to negotiate the lifting of sanctions and the release of frozen Iranian funds during the 60-day period, with these steps to be implemented only as part of a verifiable final agreement.

- The American forces that have been mobilized in the region in recent months will remain during the 60 days and will only withdraw if a final agreement is reached.

- The draft memorandum of understanding clearly stipulates the end of the war between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The American official stated that the quicker Iran removes the mines and resumes shipping, the sooner the blockade will be lifted.

He explained that the basic principle adopted by Trump in the agreement is "relief for implementation."

Iran has demanded an immediate lift of the freeze on funds and permanent removal of sanctions, but the American side confirmed that this will only be achieved after "substantial concessions" are offered, according to the official.

In a related context, an Israeli official reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his concern regarding the condition of ending the war in Lebanon during a phone call with Trump on Saturday.

Netanyahu also expressed concerns about "other aspects" of the agreement, according to an American official.

The official stated that the agreement in Lebanon will not be "a unilateral ceasefire, and if Hezbollah attempts to rearm or launch attacks, it will allow Israel to take necessary measures to prevent it; however, if Hezbollah adheres to the rules, Israel will adhere as well."

He added: "Netanyahu has his internal considerations, but Trump must take into account the interests of the United States and the global economy."

The American official clarified that the White House hopes to resolve recent disputes within the next few hours and announce the agreement on Sunday.

However, he warned of "the possibility that the agreement may not last the full 60 days if the United States believes that Iran is not serious in the nuclear negotiations."
