Trump Posts Map of Iran Highlighted with the American Flag on His Account

SadaNews - On Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump posted a map of Iran highlighted with the American flag, accompanied by a questioning phrase: "The United States in the Middle East?".

It is unclear what the U.S. President meant by this map, and whether it constitutes a new threat to Iran. Notably, the posting coincided with Iranian discussions about reaching a memorandum of understanding with a Pakistani intermediary, awaiting a U.S. response.

This also parallels other statements from U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Saturday, in which he revealed "some progress in talks with Iran".

Rubio stated in remarks from India that there is a possibility the U.S. will have an announcement regarding Iran in the coming days.

For his part, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baqei said on Saturday that Tehran has sensed a "tendency towards rapprochement" with the United States, following a visit to Tehran by Pakistan's army chief Asim Munir, whose country is mediating to end the war in the Middle East.
