The Presidency Condemns the Crime Committed by Ben Gvir and the Occupation Forces Against Activists of the 'Global Fleet of Resilience'
SadaNews - The Palestinian presidency has strongly condemned the crime committed by extremist Israeli Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, and the actions taken by the Israeli occupation forces in intercepting and detaining the "Global Fleet of Resilience" ships in international waters of the Mediterranean Sea, and the assault and mistreatment of the participating international and Arab activists, during their peaceful humanitarian mission aimed at breaking the unjust siege imposed on our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and delivering urgent humanitarian and medical aid.
The presidency affirmed that intercepting the fleet's ships in international waters constitutes an illegal act, maritime piracy, and a flagrant violation of international law and humanitarian law, as well as a blatant assault on freedom of navigation and international humanitarian and solidarity work.
The presidency expressed deep discontent at the scenes that showed extremist Minister Ben Gvir at the Ashdod port accompanied by his guards, in a provocative and showy visit, while the activists were handcuffed and thrown to the ground after their arrest; many were subjected to humiliation, mistreatment, and insults, including forcing some of them to listen to the Israeli anthem, in a blatant violation of all humanitarian values and international norms.
The presidency highlighted Ben Gvir's inciting statements and his boasting about the detention of activists and his call to keep them in prison for as long as possible, reflecting the racist and extremist mentality that governs the policies of the occupying government, and its insistence on continuing its violations against the Palestinian people and all those who stand in solidarity with them.
The presidency praised the courage of the activists participating in the "Global Fleet of Resilience," who represent the conscience of free humanity, appreciating their noble humanitarian and moral stances, and reaffirming that these assaults will not deter the free people of the world from continuing to stand in solidarity with our people and rejecting the siege and occupation.
The presidency called on the international community, the United Nations, and all countries to bear their legal and humanitarian responsibilities towards the Palestinian people, lift the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip, work to stop the ongoing Israeli assaults against our people, land, and sanctities, and pressure the occupying state to stop its serious violations of international law and provide protection for the international activists to carry out their important role in supporting the resilience of the Palestinian people and lifting the historical injustice inflicted upon them by ending the occupation and establishing the independence of the State of Palestine with its capital in East Jerusalem.
