Interior Minister Receives Delegation from the European Union to Discuss Strengthening Joint Work and Building Police Capacities

SadaNews - Today, Interior Minister Ziad Hab Al-Reeh welcomed a delegation from the European Union, headed by Mr. Gilles Roostan, Head of the Strategic Planning Department for Crisis Management at the European External Action Service, accompanied by the Head of the European Police Mission.

During the meeting, Minister Hab Al-Reeh praised the ongoing support provided by the European Union to the State of Palestine, and the important role played by the European Police Mission in developing the civil police force through training, advising, and enhancing operational capacities, alongside its contribution to supporting the justice sector, protecting human rights, and consolidating the principles of the rule of law. He also commended the role of the European Union Border Assistance Mission at the Rafah crossing, which continues to operate in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the General Authority for Crossings and Borders.

The Minister affirmed the State of Palestine's sovereignty over the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem under one system and one government, and the importance of starting to implement the relief, early recovery, and reconstruction plan in cooperation and coordination with all international partners.

For its part, the European delegation affirmed the EU's commitment to continue supporting capacity-building and institutional development efforts, providing specialized technical training to police participants, which contributes to enhancing performance levels and strengthening security and stability requirements.

Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and joint work in the upcoming phase, which enhances the readiness of Palestinian security forces and improves the quality of services provided to citizens.
