Referral of 5 Violators to the Public Prosecution Over Price Manipulation
SadaNews Economy - The Ministry of National Economy referred five violators to the Public Prosecution for combating economic crimes due to price manipulation and non-compliance with the Consumer Protection Law.
The General Administration for Consumer Protection at the Ministry of National Economy indicated in its report for the month of April that its teams seized more than 82 tons of expired materials and violated mandatory technical regulations, and destroyed more than 322 tons during inspection rounds carried out by the teams across various governorates.
The administration explained in its report that the teams conducted 355 inspection rounds, which included visits to 2392 shops and commercial establishments, in addition to issuing 39 notices and writing violations against 28 commercial establishments. They also addressed 192 complaints submitted to the ministry.
It also noted the withdrawal of 33 samples of products for testing to ensure their compliance with specifications and mandatory technical instructions.
As part of its efforts to regulate the market, the General Administration for Consumer Protection held a meeting for the Internal Market Regulation Committee to discuss the plan for Eid al-Adha and to come up with recommendations to support local products, and enhanced cooperation with local authorities to ensure consumer protection and market regulation.
