Increase in Electricity Tariff in Israel Starting 2026

SadaNews Economic Translation - The Israeli Electricity Authority decided this evening, Monday, to increase the electricity tariff for household needs.

According to Channel 12, as translated by the SadaNews Economic Department, the tariff will rise by 1.5% during the first quarter of 2026.

The actual cost will reach an additional 5.9 shekels monthly for the household consumer.

This increase is attributed, among other reasons, to the decline in currency exchange rates, along with the rise in the consumer price index, the Bank of Israel's interest rate, and coal prices.

The price will be updated automatically every six months based on economic indicators, such as the dollar exchange rate and the consumer price index, instead of the annual update based on forecasts. This aims to ensure that costs remain closer to the market and to reduce disparities and economic fluctuations, according to the channel.

The Israeli Electricity Authority will implement a large investment plan to develop the electricity network and build new stations at a cost of 90 billion shekels by 2030, and these expenses will be gradually added to electricity prices.
