Iran: We Demanded Our Legitimate Rights and an End to the War in Response to the U.S. Proposal
SadaNews - The Iranian Foreign Ministry said on Monday that it demanded in response to the recent U.S. proposal an end to the war in the entire region and the release of frozen assets abroad.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ismail Baqaei, stated on Monday that Tehran's proposal to end the war with the United States and open the Strait of Hormuz is a legitimate and generous one, adding that Washington continues to cling to unreasonable and unilateral demands.
Baqaei said: "Our demand is legitimate: the call for an end to the war, lifting the blockade and piracy, and releasing Iranian assets that have been unjustly frozen in banks due to U.S. pressure."
He added: "Safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz and establishing security in the region and Lebanon are other demands from Iran, and this is a generous and responsible offer for the security of the region."
The ministry spokesman stated in the weekly press conference: "We have not asked for any concessions. The only thing we have demanded is Iran's legitimate rights."
The United States proposed ending the fighting before starting talks on more contentious issues, including the Iranian nuclear program.
