The President Informs the King of Jordan about the Comprehensive Reform Program Being Implemented by the Palestinian Leadership

SadaNews: The President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, met today, Tuesday, with the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, King Abdullah II, in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

During the meeting, the latest developments in Palestine were reviewed, alongside discussions on several regional and international issues of mutual interest.

At the beginning of the meeting, the President praised the steadfast Jordanian positions, under King Abdullah II's leadership, in supporting the Palestinian cause and defending the rights of the Palestinian people in various international forums, highly appreciating the humanitarian aid provided by the Kingdom, including the establishment of field hospitals and receiving the injured from the Gaza Strip for treatment.

The President valued the special role played by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in protecting Islamic and Christian holy sites in the city of Jerusalem, within the framework of the Hashemite guardianship.

He affirmed the State of Palestine's keenness to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and cooperation with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in a manner that serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples.

The President informed the King of Jordan about the serious Israeli escalation in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, due to colonial expansion policies, attempts at annexation, and the rise of settler terrorism, calling for the immediate release of the Palestinian funds held by Israel.

The meeting also addressed the ongoing violations facing the Islamic and Christian holy sites in the city of Jerusalem, and the obstruction of worshipers' access to them, where both sides emphasized the necessity of preserving the legal and historical status of these holy sites in Jerusalem, valuing the role of the Hashemite guardianship.

The President stressed the importance of committing to implementing President Trump's plan and UN Security Council Resolution 2803, leading to a ceasefire, the introduction of aid, and moving to the second phase, starting the recovery and reconstruction stage, reaching the implementation of the two-state solution based on international legitimacy decisions.

He also highlighted the importance of activating the coordination office between the Palestinian government and the executive bodies of the Peace Council.

The President confirmed the unity of the Palestinian territory in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and rejected any attempts to separate the Gaza Strip, considering it an integral part of the State of Palestine, reiterating the commitment to the principle of "one state, one law, and one legitimate weapon," and enhancing the linkage of Palestinian institutions under the umbrella of the Palestinian government.

He also informed King Abdullah II about the comprehensive reform program being implemented by the Palestinian leadership, committing to all its clauses, aimed at developing state institutions, enhancing principles of governance and transparency, developing education, unifying social protection systems, supporting the rule of law, digital transformation, and enhancing security and the justice sector, and completing democratic entitlements that started with the elections of the Fatah Youth, local authority elections, leading to the eighth conference of the Fatah Movement next month, the Palestinian National Council elections in November, and preparing the constitution and the laws of political parties and general elections, in preparation for presidential and parliamentary elections when the appropriate conditions are met.

An agreement was reached to continue coordination and consultation on various issues, in a manner that serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples.

The meeting was attended by the Vice President of the State of Palestine, Hussein al-Sheikh, the head of the General Intelligence Service, Major General Majid Farraj, the President's advisor for diplomatic affairs, Majdi Khaldi, and the Palestinian Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Attallah Khairi.
