The Alliance Emphasizes the Withdrawal of All Military Forces from Aden
SadaNews - Falah Al-Shahrani, advisor to the commander of the joint forces for the Saudi-led coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen, emphasized the necessity of the withdrawal of military forces from the temporary capital Aden and other cities, allowing the security apparatus to take over their security duties.
Al-Shahrani stated in televised remarks yesterday, Wednesday, from Aden, that the military formations were designated for fighting and were established under specific emergency circumstances.
He pointed out that after stability is achieved, all military forces - including what was previously known as the security belts (affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council) - must withdraw from the vicinity of Aden and the provinces to their camps to normalize the security situation, and the security forces should manage the provinces to ensure stability.
Al-Shahrani arrived in Aden last Monday, and the National Shield Forces affiliated with the Yemeni government stated that his arrival is part of security and military arrangements for the upcoming phase.
On Tuesday, Al-Shahrani held a meeting in Aden with military leaders from various southern Yemeni provinces to discuss security and military arrangements and the proposed vision for rearranging the security and military scenes.
This comes at a time when military meetings for the Ministry of Defense and the coalition in Aden have intensified, including a consultative military meeting held the day before yesterday, Tuesday, at the Ministry of Defense headquarters in the temporary capital, chaired by Major General Ahmed Al-Basir Salem, Deputy Chief of the General Staff.
The official Saba news agency reported that the meeting discussed the implementation of the decisions and directives of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Ilmi, regarding the status and work of the military formations, involving representatives from the joint operations bodies, military formations, and officials from the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff.
This was preceded by a similar meeting of the Yemeni Ministry of Defense in Aden, which was the largest and perhaps the first in about ten years, where heads of military bodies and leaders of regions and fronts convened.
The meeting confirmed the support of the armed forces for all sovereign decisions aimed at merging the various military and security units within the framework of the Ministries of Defense and Interior, under a unified leadership and a joint operations room.
Last Saturday, Al-Ilmi announced the formation of a high military committee under the leadership of the coalition forces to prepare, equip, and lead all military forces and formations, supporting them to be ready for the upcoming phase in the event that what he described as militias refused peaceful solutions.
Since 2015, many armed formations have been established in the southern and eastern provinces, most of which are affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council, which recently lost its military influence following the control of government forces, supported by Saudi Arabia, over these areas.
