Success of a Minimally Invasive Surgery for a Child in Old Cairo

SadaNews - A medical team at Al-Mobara Hospital in Old Cairo, part of the therapeutic institution in Cairo, successfully performed a precise and successful surgery on an infant weighing 2.5 kilograms to correct esophageal atresia using thoracoscopic techniques for newborns, according to an announcement by the Egyptian Ministry of Health on Sunday.

This complex surgery requires high medical expertise and precision and was performed using the latest endoscopic techniques while minimizing surgical intervention to reduce pain and expedite recovery.

The Ministry of Health and Population confirmed in a press statement today that the child has been discharged from the hospital in good health, having received full nutrition after his medical condition stabilized and vital signs improved.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health reported that this achievement marks the first success recorded with the opening of the pediatric surgery department, while ensuring the least amount of surgical intervention.

The Ministry praised the efficiency of the medical team that performed the operation, stressing that the success reflects the advanced expertise and competencies of Egyptian medical professionals, as well as the continuous support from the ministry to equip public hospitals with the latest medical technologies across various specialties.
