"Google" Resumes Its Advertising Services in Syria.. After a Ban for More Than a Decade
SadaNews - Google has announced an update to its legal policies regarding Google Ads Legal Requirements & Country Restrictions, as Syria is no longer on the list of banned countries for engagement.
This change enables advertisers to utilize Google's advertising services more widely within Syria. This update comes as part of the American company's commitment to the decisions of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, which announced at the end of June the cancellation of the sanctions program imposed on Syria since 2004.
The decision took effect at the beginning of July 2025, including the lifting of most economic and financial restrictions, while maintaining specific sanctions targeting former President Bashar al-Assad and several of his close associates, as well as parties involved in terrorism and smuggling.
The decision, along with commitments from major American companies like Google, is expected to contribute to expanding the scope of digital and commercial services available in Syria and opens the door to broader economic movements after years of isolation.
