Netanyahu Expects "Complex Days" for Israel Amid U.S.-Iran Tension
SadaNews - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Monday that Israel faces "complex and challenging days" due to the escalating tension between Washington and Tehran, following U.S. President Donald Trump's threat to strike Iran if it refuses to accept a new nuclear deal.
Netanyahu added in a brief speech before the Knesset: "We are going through highly complex days filled with challenges. No one knows what tomorrow holds for us, and we keep our eyes open and are prepared for any scenario."
He reiterated his warning to Iran, saying: "If the mullahs make the biggest mistake in their history and attack the State of Israel, we will respond with force they cannot even imagine."
In Geneva, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi warned on Monday of the danger of escalation beyond its borders if it were attacked, after Trump spoke about the possibility of resorting to military options should negotiations between the two countries fail.
Gharibabadi stated from the podium of the disarmament conference: "We call on all nations committed to peace and justice to take meaningful actions to prevent any new escalation."
He added that "the repercussions of any new aggression (against Iran) will not be limited to one country, and the responsibility lies with those who initiate or support such actions."
