Human Rights Organization: Israel Seeks to Destroy the Communications Infrastructure in Gaza

SadaNews - The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor has warned of an imminent danger of a complete disruption in communication and internet networks in the Gaza Strip, due to intensive Israeli bombardment of residential towers and high-rise buildings housing critical communications equipment.

The monitor explained that targeting these buildings does not only aim to destroy the architectural structure but also represents a direct threat to the communications sector, as local companies rely on installing their technical equipment on the rooftops of these towers. It added that this targeting is part of a systematic policy aimed at deepening urban erasure and pushing residents towards forced displacement.

The monitor pointed out that the destruction of the communications infrastructure aims to impose complete isolation on civilians, which severely hinders the work of medical and relief teams, and prevents the documentation of crimes or the seeking of humanitarian aid, making the disruption an indirect tool of killing no less dangerous than the bombardment itself.

The monitor called on the international community to take urgent action to stop these violations and ensure the protection of civilians and vital infrastructure, stressing that the continuation of this policy constitutes an extension of the genocide committed against the residents of Gaza for months.
