SadaNews - The Supreme Committee for Estimating Date Production announced the completion of its work for the agricultural season 2025, with a total estimated production of about 25.3 thousand tons of premium quality dates, compared to 22 thousand tons last year.
During its final meeting, the committee reviewed the final report prepared by the field committees following 21 days of fieldwork that included morning and evening periods. The field assessment covered 893 date palm farms comprising 351 thousand trees, of which 322 thousand are productive, 16 thousand are non-productive, in addition to 12.3 thousand new trees that have not yet entered the production stage. The committee also visited 235 farms to verify the data, including 159 farms each containing more than 500 date palm trees.
The Ministry of Agriculture, as one of the representatives of the committee, pointed out that its efforts along with its partners in the private sector contributed last year to a qualitative leap in exports, by opening new markets for Palestinian dates in more than 35 countries, as well as exporting 16 thousand tons, making it a distinct brand known for its identity and high-quality competitiveness.
The Supreme Committee for Estimating Date Production includes representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Diwan of Financial and Administrative Control, the Farmers Union, the Cooperative Association of Date Farmers, the Jericho and the Jordan Valley Governorate, in addition to security agencies (Preventive Security, General Intelligence, and Customs Control).
During the meeting, the committee chairman, Ashraf Barakat, emphasized the strategic importance of the date sector, pointing to the complementary role played by the ministry with partners from oversight, security, and civil society bodies, aiming at improving services and enhancing regulatory measures, positively impacting farmers and local and international markets.
Barakat also praised the significant efforts made by the field committees in preparing the report with high accuracy despite difficult weather conditions and rising temperatures, commending the spirit of cooperation embodied by the partners in implementation of the minister's directives and emphasizing the importance of developing this vital sector.
