According to the results of a survey conducted by the "PhoneArena" website, about 75% of participants believe that lowering prices is the most important factor that could help "Sony" sell more smartphones, especially with leaks suggesting that the Xperia 1 VIII may come with a higher price than the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and iPhone 17 Pro Max by a difference of up to 300 euros in Europe.

Although the anticipated phone is rumored to have strong upgrades in the camera and performance, many feel that specifications alone are no longer sufficient in the leading phone market, especially with the intensifying competition and the trend of major companies to offer better value for money.

About 12% of survey participants indicated that "Sony" may no longer be able to regain its position in the smartphone market, considering that the company's phones have become part of the past after years of decline and losing momentum against competitors.

On the other hand, some users still see hope in the return of the Japanese company, as 7% considered that enhancing the hardware and specifications could help boost sales, while others believed that radically updating the design could be a necessary step to attract users again.

Over the past years, "Sony" has maintained some features that have disappeared from most competing phones, such as a 3.5mm headphone jack, stereo front speakers, and an easily accessible SIM card tray, but these elements were not sufficient for widespread public dissemination.

Observers believe that the success of the Xperia 1 VIII will not only depend on camera quality or hardware power, but on "Sony's" ability to achieve a balance between price and specifications, especially at a time when competition has become fiercer in the leading smartphone market.

The company is expected to officially unveil the phone on May 13, amid anticipation to see if "Sony" will finally listen to user demands and reconsider its pricing strategy.
