מרוקו: המשך הפגנות דור زد נגד השחיתות
סאדנואס - continued in Morocco mass protests led by supporters of the "דור زد 212" movement, where hundreds of young people have taken to the streets in several cities demanding an end to corruption and improvement of public services in education and health and the resignation of Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, on the tenth day of these protests, which have entered their second week.
Moroccan Youth and Communication Minister Mohamed Mahdi Bensaid called on the government and the leadership of the youth movement to open a direct dialogue, noting that the problems in the education and health sectors are inherited from previous governments, and that the discussion should move from the virtual world to official institutions.
The major cities witnessed a notable turnout, in Casablanca demonstrators gathered in the popular neighborhood of Al-Fida, chanting slogans such as: "The people want to overthrow corruption" and "Akhannouch must go," while protesters in Tetouan raised similar slogans.
In the capital Rabat, however, the gathering was smaller with around a hundred demonstrators in front of the parliament, chanting: "Long live the people" and "The government is corrupt."
The "דור زد" movement, which includes over 185,000 members on the "דיסקורד" platform, emphasizes the peaceful nature of the protests, rejecting any form of violence or destruction, considering itself a group of free youth not affiliated with any political party.
The spark for the protests ignited in mid-September following the deaths of eight pregnant women in a public hospital in Agadir during cesarean section operations, which sparked public outrage.
Despite the movement's commitment to the peaceful nature, some cities witnessed limited acts of violence, where three people were killed by gendarmerie while trying to storm a police station in the village of Al-Qalyia near Agadir in an attempt to seize weapons and ammunition.
The government confirms its readiness to dialogue with the movement, seeking to transfer the discussion from the virtual world to official frameworks, with the goal of addressing youth demands and achieving tangible reforms in public services.
