Jordanian Crown Prince Warns Against Overlooking the Suffering of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank

SadaNews -  On behalf of King Abdullah II of Jordan, Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II participated on Friday in the informal meeting of the European Union and regional partners in the Cypriot capital, Nicosia. The meeting, organized by the European Union with the participation of leaders from European countries and representatives from several partner countries, discussed the latest regional developments and ways to enhance cooperation to address common challenges and restore stability.

The Crown Prince expressed during the meeting the importance of the strategic and comprehensive partnership between Jordan and the European Union, indicating the Kingdom's aspiration to host the Jordanian-European Investment Conference later this year.

Speaking about the situation in the region, he affirmed that any ceasefire agreement must address all causes of tensions, ensure a halt to aggression, and achieve security in Arab countries, particularly in the Gulf states.

Regarding developments in Lebanon, the Crown Prince confirmed Jordan's full support for the Lebanese government's efforts to maintain Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing the Kingdom's continued support for the Lebanese Army.

He spoke about the relations between Jordan and Syria, noting that the two countries are actively working to build a future of cooperation, calling on European partners to continue supporting these efforts. His Highness the Crown Prince pointed out that regional developments should not distract the world from the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, warning that territorial annexation is a significant threat that will undermine prospects for peace. He emphasized the danger of the continuing economic squeeze on Palestinians and the violation of the historical and legal status of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and warned that humanitarian aid does not reach Gaza, highlighting the need to ensure compliance with the implementation of the U.S. plan to end the war in the sector.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and Director of the Crown Prince's Office Dr. Zaid Al-Buqaiyan attended the meeting.
